The
Willie Mac II is a production 43 foot motor powered shallow deadrise
fishing vessel built by Torres Boat Builders in Key West Florida in
1985. It has a draft of 4.5" and a beam of 16 feet It
is constructed of fiberglass. The vessel has dual helms, located
in the wheel house and on the flybridge. An entirely new electrical
system has been installed. A new 40" off deck handrail of 2"
galvanized pipe has been fitted around the 12" by 15" aft cockpit. .
The Willie Mac II is powered by two Caterpillar 3208 turbo-charged
diesel engines. Access to the engines is through the two large
hatches at the aft end of the cabin sole. There are three
fiberglass fuel tanks. The two side tanks are approximately
450 gallons each, the center tank approximately 200 gallons.
The engine compartment is fitted with an automatic discharge halon
"Fireboy" fire extinguisher. Additional firefighting equipment (two
10lb and two 5lb USCG approved type ABC "Kidde" fire extinguishers),
is located in the wheelhouse.
There are on board 27 adult and three children's USCG Type 1 PFDs
with reflective tape and lights equipped with dated batteries/
The vessel is also equipped with two 15 person float free life raft/rings
located at the aft of the flybridge, and 2 throw life rings.
All of the previously mentioned safety gear is manufactured by Jim
Buoy. There is a first aid kit on board, and an oxygen set
is taken on when dive operations are being conducted. The
vessel is supplied with a compass, GPS/Charting system and forward
searching sonar/depth sounder. All required horns, bell and
USCG approved flares are located in the wheel house.
There are five anchors on board. Mounted bow rollers are
a 66lb Bruce with 100' of 3/8" chain and 200 feet of 3/4"
dual braid line, and a 33lb Fortress (Danforth type) with 25 feet
of 3/8 chain and 300' of 3/4 dual braid line. The foredeck
is equipped with an Ideal #1 windlass with chain gypsy. For storm
mooring the vessel is equipped with a 66lb Claw (Bruce type), and
a 77lb Brittany (Danforth type), each equipped with 125" of 3/8"
high-test chain. A 25 lb Danforth and 100" of 5/8 three strand anchor
line are used for temporary stern anchoring.
